Introduction
Hegel builds amplifiers the way a Norwegian engineer would: enormous power reserves, a display that tells you the source and the volume, and nothing else competing for your attention. Two of them are now in the Soundium catalogue, and they sit at opposite ends of the same idea.
The H200 is the newer arrival and the one most people will want. It replaced the middle of Hegel's line with a single box holding 2 × 150 W of Class AB power, a full streaming platform, a DAC and, unusually for this price, a proper moving-magnet phono input. EISA named it Amplifier 2026-2027.
The H600 is what happens when Hegel stops compromising. 2 × 303 W in a true dual mono layout, a damping factor above 4,000, distortion below 0.005%, and a bit-perfect DAC section that reviewers keep comparing to standalone converters costing thousands. It is the amplifier you buy when you want the loudspeakers to be the only variable left.

Who It's For
Buy the H200 if you want one box to run a serious two-channel system and you own a turntable. It is the more complete product of the two: streaming, conversion, vinyl and 150 W per channel, and it will drive most speakers people actually pair with a €4,000 amplifier.
Buy the H600 if your loudspeakers have already embarrassed a smaller amplifier, or if you were about to spend serious money on a separate DAC. 303 W per channel and dual mono construction stop speaker sensitivity from being a purchasing constraint.
Who should look elsewhere: if you need multiple balanced sources, the H200's single XLR input will frustrate you. If vinyl is your main source, the H600 has no phono stage, so budget for an external one such as the Hegel V10. And if you want a big colour touchscreen and app-driven room correction, neither of these is that kind of amplifier.

Final Thoughts
These two amplifiers make the same argument at different volumes: buy fewer boxes, buy more power than you think you need, and stop paying for features that do not affect the music. The H200 is the sensible one. The H600 is the one you stop upgrading after.
