The first Soundium: Enabled fused theory, practice and experiences in the field of music technology. For the first time in the Baltics, a space under one roof was dedicated to DJ and studio gear testing, lectures with brand ambassadors and performances of local geeks.

About and around music technology
The main goal of the event was to demonstrate and educate. Yet the most important part of Soundium: Enabled was its participant, coming with their own approach to the creative process, so the door was open to anyone and networking was strongly encouraged. Two rooms: a demo space packed with synths, drum machines, DJ decks and controllers from more than twenty brands, and a lecture space where Bitwig, Ableton, Sonarworks, Arturia and Erica Synths took the stage before the local performances closed the day.

A designated getting-your-hands-on-gear area. Various equipment, part of it hot and new: from DJ turntables to modular synths, drum machines and DAW controllers. Brand representatives were around, so tips came straight from the professionals.

Top Lithuanian scratch DJs performed scratch routines and taught a lesson or two about scratching techniques on Pioneer DJ gear.

(03) Lecture space
Lectures and performances
The benefit of the lectures was knowledge useful back in reality: brand lecturers discussed software, hardware and whatever is in between. It was also a chance to see and hear equipment in action, because the lectures were followed by performances of locals.

Soundium: Enabled took place at the well-known Kablys Club, one of the most important electronic music venues not only in Vilnius but in Lithuania as a whole. Great artists appear at Kablys all the time, and the club is known for its open-minded, genre-friendly concept.

When and where did it take place?+
Saturday, October 20th 2018, at Kablys Club in Vilnius. Doors 11:00, close 17:00.
Was a ticket required?+
No. Soundium: Enabled was, and is, absolutely free.
What language were the presentations in?+
All presentations were in English.
How did the demo hall work?+
Equipment could only be tried out with headphones or monitors, so visitors were asked to bring their own headphones and a 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm adapter.
Could I bring my own setup?+
Yes: vintage gear, DIY synths and gadgets, modular racks, drum machines, everything went, arranged in advance with the team. This grew into the Hardware Camp the following year.
Where did out-of-town visitors stay?+
We recommended 5B Hostel, upstairs from Kablys Club, or Comfort Hotel very near the venue.
