The Digitone II is a 16-track, 16-voice synth with four engines and the full Elektron sequencer – a compact studio brain. This bundle finishes the job: Outbox 8 brings its tracks out individually for mixing or external processing, the OH-7 Overhub ties the Digitone, the Outbox and the rest of the desk to one USB 3.0 hub, and the Analog Cases Pulse case protects it between sessions. One order, one set price.

The Digitone II with separate outs, a powered hub and a case cut to its chassis.

The Digitone II runs four synthesis machines across 16 voices and 16 tracks, and it is as much a sequencer for the rest of the room as it is a synth. This set gives it the eight assignable outputs of the Outbox 8, the OH-7 Overhub so the machines and the computer share one stable connection, and the Analog Cases Pulse Case for travel. It is aimed at anyone building a track on the desk rather than in a plug-in.

Eight configurable 1/4 inch jacks over one USB-C connection. Pads, bass and drums each reach the desk on their own channel, and the same jacks send control voltage when a modular case is on the bench.

Analog Cases Pulse Case

A moulded EVA shell cut to the Elektron desktop chassis. It keeps its shape in a rucksack, holds the machine and its power supply, and adds almost nothing to the weight.

Setting it up

  1. Connect the Outbox 8 to the Digitone II with the supplied USB-C to USB-B cable and power it from its own USB-C input.
  2. Open the Outbox 8 output configuration on the Digitone II and assign each of the eight jacks to audio or CV.
  3. Send the tracks you want separated to a desk or interface; the rest stays on the main outputs.
  4. Put the Digitone II and the Outbox 8 on the OH-7 Overhub when the computer and Overbridge join the setup.
  5. Pack the Digitone II and its PSU-3c into the Pulse Case for travel.

Questions

How many voices does the Digitone II actually have?

Sixteen voices across sixteen tracks, and any track can be used as a MIDI track for external gear instead of a synth voice.

What are the four machines?

FM Tone and FM Drum for frequency modulation, Wavetone for virtual analogue and phase distortion, and Swarmer for stacked detuned unison. Each track chooses its own.

Can I configure the Outbox 8 from the machine itself?

Yes. Digitakt I and II, Digitone I, II and Keys, Syntakt, Analog Rytm MKII, Analog Four MKII and the Analog Heat models set the outputs up in-device. The browser Web App is only needed for machines without that support.

Are the Outbox 8 outputs balanced?

They are impedance-balanced and DC-coupled, running 48 kHz 32-bit converters. Being DC-coupled is what lets the same jacks carry either audio or control voltage up to plus or minus 5 V.

Does the Outbox 8 record audio in?

No. It is outputs only, with no inputs and no preamps, so it adds routing rather than replacing a recording interface.

Why a powered hub instead of the ports on a laptop?

Overbridge machines and the Outbox 8 each want their own stable connection. The OH-7 turns one host port into seven USB 3.0 ports at up to 5 Gbit/s, so the desk grows without unplugging anything.

Does the case take the power supply too?

Yes. The Pulse Case is cut to the Digitakt, Digitone and Syntakt chassis and has a storage pocket for the PSU-3c and cables.

Can I mount the Digitone II on an arm?

Yes. The chassis has 100 x 100 mm VESA holes for M4 screws up to 7 mm long.
